Understanding the Domain of IPR: A Wholesome Perspective

MVP Samaj College of Pharmacy, Nashik, successfully organized an IPR Awareness and Capacity-Building Workshop on “Understanding the Domain of IPR: A Wholesome Perspective” on 29 and 31 August 2026. The workshop aimed to enhance awareness and strengthen the understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among faculty members and participants, emphasizing its importance in research, innovation, academics, and professional practice.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Umesh Banakar, Professor and President, Banakar Consulting Services, Westfield, Indiana, USA, who served as the Lead Instructor. Through his extensive experience and global perspective, Dr. Banakar provided valuable insights into various dimensions of IPR, highlighting its role in fostering innovation and protecting intellectual assets.

The inaugural session was graced by distinguished dignitaries of MVP Samaj, including Adv. Nitin B. Thakare, Secretary, MVP Samaj, Nashik; Adv. Laxman Landge, Director, MVP Samaj, Nashik (Nashik City); and Shri. Ramesh Pandurang Pingale, Director, MVP Samaj, Nashik (Nashik Rural).

As part of the faculty capacity-building initiative, Prof. V. K. Mourya, Former Professor Emeritus, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Dr. BAMU), and Former Principal, Government College of Pharmacy, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, delivered an informative session on the Basics of Python Programming in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The session introduced pharmacy teachers to the fundamentals of Python programming and its applications in pharmaceutical education and research.

Prof. Mourya also highlighted the significance of Python programming in light of its inclusion in the new Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) syllabus for First Year B. Pharm. students, helping faculty members prepare for effective implementation of the updated curriculum.

The workshop provided an excellent platform for participants to gain knowledge on IPR, emerging technologies, and recent developments in pharmaceutical education. The program reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting innovation, research excellence, faculty development, and technology-enabled learning in pharmacy education.
